GOVERNOR WOLF,
DON'T FRACK PA'S TOURISM
INDUSTRY?
COALITION CALLS ON WOLF TO STOP FRACKING PA'S $40 BILLION TOURISM INDUSTRY
The Better Path Coalition launched a campaign this summer to educate the public and pressure Governor Wolf and our state government to stop fracking one of the biggest industries in the Commonwealth. Since the Rendell administration, Pennsylvania's state forests have been in the crosshairs of the shale gas industry. Although Governor Wolf reinstated a moratorium that Corbett lifted during his administration that prohibits drilling in the most sensitive areas of our state forests, lots of our state's public land is already being fracking or is leased. And state forests aren't the only vulnerable tourism destination. Our allies in Allegheny County have been fighting to spare a county park from fracking. Pipelines threaten state and county parks. And other favorite tourist destinations are perilously close to fracking, pipelines, power plants, and processing facilities. In fact, the Delaware River Basin Commission is currently considering banning fracking, but opening the entire basin to fracking waste and water extraction for fracking elsewhere.

We are asking organizations to sign a letter that will be delivered to Governor Wolf at the end of the summer vacation season.
